The value of Counselling

Talking to a caring friend or family member can be a wonderful source of comfort in difficult times.

Sometimes, however, the sadness, frustration, worry, resentment, or loss associated with certain life experiences, needs specialist help. Counselling is a great strategy for helping you feel clearer and better.

Professional Counselling for Life’s Challenges

There are so many ways in which life can become unmanageably difficult.  It’s normal to need extra support sometimes.  Counselling can help with many different things, such as:

LIFE TRANSITIONS: Sudden or expected, life changes can have an incredibly destabilising effect on us. Counselling support can help people find a way through, build acceptance and re-establish stability.

GETTING STUCK: Sometimes we just find ourselves stuck.  This might be accompanied by feelings of being lost, unsure, or directionless.  In counselling, I can help you get UNstuck.

GRIEF AND LOSS: Grief is a completely normal response to loss, but its experience is entirely individual.  Loss may be related to many and varied things: health, a loved-one, a dream, or a career.  The aim of therapy in this instance is to support healing, and facilitate the emotional expression of grief.

AGEING AND ILLNESS: The experience of ageing and changes in health can bring on a range of complex emotions, questions, and new needs regarding support and information.  Specialist counselling can help people find a way through to a place of acceptance and peace.

Across any life challenges, as your counsellor I can help you to:

  • manage complex or new emotions
  • deal with overwhelm and confusion
  • raise questions and explore ideas and answers
  • make sense of things or find meaning
  • build acceptance and comfort
  • decipher the nature of your changing needs
  • undertake problem solving
  • and any other goals or reasons you might have for engaging with therapy…

Regardless of what your counselling needs are, I am with you the whole way, listening and collaborating with you to achieve your intended outcomes.
